Significant achievements of the Telekom Slovenije Group in 2012

First quarter

January

  • The development team of TSmedia participates in the development of the Australian operator Telstra’s T-Box. The product receives an award for most innovative IPTV solution, which is presented at the global IPTV forum and is the most prestigious award in the digital TV segment.
February
  • Telekom Slovenije launches the new SiOL TViN service, which allows SiOL TV subscribers to watch TV channels via the internet. The service is well received with more than 30,000 users at the end of the year.
March
  • Avtenta offers information and communication technologies for cloud computing.
  • Together with one of its partners, Telekom Slovenije introduces a new solution that allows users to use the internet while travelling in a taxi.

 

Second quarter

April

  • Telekom Slovenije presented its investments for 2012 to the public. The drivers of development in the ICT segment in Slovenia remain third and fourth generation mobile networks, the upgrading of networks for broadband internet access, and new cloud computing services, digital advertising and management services that facilitate the increased mobility of users.
May
  • Telekom Slovenije and NIL sign a public-private partnership agreement with the City of Ljubljana on the construction and implementation of a wireless network.
  • Ljubljanski potniški promet (LPP) and Telekom Slovenije offer users internet access on city buses on a test basis.
  • By establishing cooperation with the 2be retail chain, the Macedonian company One significantly enhances is distribution network. It also presents the new prepaid brand, DžaBest.
June
 
  • The Supervisory Board approves the Telekom Slovenije Group’s updated strategic plan for the period 2012 to 2016, which takes into account the latest changes on the market.
  • Telekom Slovenije is granted rights by the European Football Association to broadcast Champions League matches on television for the next three years.

 

Third quarter

July

  • Telekom Slovenije donates nearly 1,000 pieces of used, but well maintained furniture to 42 disability and humanitarian organisations.
August
  • The SiOL Beta Club website, through which Telekom Slovenije offers its users the opportunity to test new services before they are launched commercially, begins functioning.
September
  • The term of office of the new President of Telekom Slovenije’s Management Board, Rudolf Skobe, MSc, begins.
  • The subsidiary GVO begins implementing an FTTH project in north-western Germany. Following the successful completion of the project, GVO receives a new order, thus achieving an even greater breakthrough on the German market.
  • Soline, which manages the Sečovlje Saltpans Regional Park, celebrates 10 years since joining the Telekom Slovenije Group. Salt production reaches record levels, while a new chapter in the company’s history opens with the construction of the first open-air spa in Slovenia.
  • In the scope of a training programme organised by the Innovation Centre Banja Luka, Aneks provides one-month practical training to young locals and shares its knowledge in the field of telecommunications.

 

Fourth quarter

October

  • Telekom Slovenije upgrades its network by replacing existing international telephone exchanges in Ljubljana and Maribor with new exchanges based on the latest TDM/VoIP technology for support of fixed and mobile traffic.
  • The Itak Job project starts, through which Telekom Slovenije provides information support to first-time job seekers.
  • Telekom Slovenije's TSstartup business incubator begins operating as the first programme in Slovenia in which the Company’s aim is to offer start-up companies and teams everything necessary to develop their own innovative web, mobile or telecommunication service and launch it on the market over a four-month period.
November
  • Planet TV, the new commercial television station of the subsidiary TSmedia, begins broadcasting a full range of programmes.
  • Telekom Slovenije begins upgrading its mobile network with LTE (Long Term Evolution) technology, which facilitates significantly faster mobile broadband data services. All major Slovenian cities and towns will be covered within a few months. The new network will include the latest, environmentally friendly solutions.
  • As one of the leading partners, Telekom Slovenije begins implementing the European eBADGE project, the aim of which is to set up an international test Smart Grid.
December
  • The Supervisory Board approves the proposed strategic partnership between Planet TV and Greece’s largest media company, Antenna Group.
  • The Supervisory Board reaches agreement with Marko Boštjančič regarding the latter’s resignation from his position as member of Telekom Slovenije’s Management Board and appoints Mateja Božič, MSc as his replacement.  

Recognitions and awards received in 2012

  • the brands Telekom Slovenije, SiOL and Mobitel receive the title of Trusted Brand; 
  • Mobi receives the platinum award in the packaging category at the 2012 Creativity International Awards ;
  • the Itak Džafest 2011 music festival receives the European Gold Quill EMErald Award and the international Gold Quill Award of Merit for communication excellence;
  • Telekom Slovenije receives three silver medals and one gold medal, while Planet Siol.net receives a silver medal at the Slovenian Advertising Festival;
  • the web portals itak.si and najdi.si receive the Netko award in the products and brands category and the people’s choice category respectively;
  • Planet Siol.net receives the Websi award in the news provider category;
  • Moneta mTerminal receives the award for business solution of the year in 2012 in the entrepreneur category at the 2012 Arena of Business Solutions;  
  • TSmedia’s direct mail application receives second prize at the 2012 Arena of Business Solutions;
  • the campaign Z vsem srcem (Wholeheartedly) receives the award for best advertisement at the Sporto 2012 competition;
  • Instant Internet Farm receives the Golden Sempler award in the category best targeted campaign at the Sempl 2012 festival;
  • e-skupaj receives the Papirus award for best internal newsletter; 
  • One receives first prize for corporate philanthropy in the large company category for its social responsibility projects at a national competition organised by the Centre for Institutional Development (CIRa);
  • One receives recognition from the Ministry of the Economy and its coordinating board for social responsibility for the introduction of socially responsible practices; and
  • One receives recognitions from the prestigious Macedonian magazine Backstage as a trustworthy partner.
